"THE GUIDING STAR OF BEING"

From the December 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One of the most satisfying conditions of thought which mankind can experience is a clear sense of guidance and direction in everyday affairs. Men have experienced spiritual guidance throughout the ages in incidents both small and great. But Christian Science, thoroughly studied and heeded, makes possible the spiritual understanding of such guidance.

On the opening page of the Preface to Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy speaks of a shepherd beholding the first rays of light at dawn. Then she says: "So shone the pale star to the prophet-shepherds; yet it traversed the night, and came where, in cradled obscurity, lay the Bethlehem babe, the human herald of Christ, Truth, who would make plain to benighted understanding the way of salvation through Christ Jesus, till across a night of error should dawn the morning beams and shine the guiding star of being. The Wisemen were led to behold and to follow this daystar of divine Science, lighting the way to eternal harmony."

Jesus, the master Christian, experienced divine guidance constantly. His listening to God and his following of His guidance were so outstanding that he became the Way-shower for mankind.
