AN understanding of the fundamental rules of a subject must precede one's ability to demonstrate these rules. Moreover, any compromise or anything less than complete adherence to these rules will deter or even prevent one's demonstration. Therefore the assumption that one can accomplish spiritual healing while using material remedies is false and comes from misguided reasoning.
When Mary Baker Eddy presented to the world "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" as a textbook for instruction in lifting mankind above sin, disease, and death, she wrote in the (Preface p. x) "The author has not compromised conscience to suit the general drift of thought, but has bluntly and honestly given the text of Truth." The paragraph continues, "By thousands of well-authenticated cases of healing, she and her students have proved the worth of her teachings."
Through the study and application of the rules of Christian Science, which propounds the ever-availability of God, divine Principle, in time of trouble, the student of this religion accomplishes healing through spiritual means alone in the same manner that Christ Jesus healed more than nineteen hundred years ago.
