ON the national and international scene today governments are expending much effort and money to resist aggression by building such defenses as a peace force and thereby establishing "a climate of security." But what can the individual world citizen do about unsolved world problems? One very important thing he can do is to build his individual peace force and establish his own climate of security by discovering that inner peaceful kingdom referred to by the Way-shower, Christ Jesus, who said (Luke 17:21), "Behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
To discover this kingdom of God it is first necessary to know God. How does one know God? In Christian Science we know Him as ever-present Spirit, divine Love, undeviating Principle, and affluent Soul. We know Him as all-knowing Mind, infinite Truth, omniactive Life; and we trust Him as our loving Father-Mother. As we know God, we learn of His true, spiritual creation, including man, who is His image and likeness. God's kingdom is the kingdom of good.
As one learns that man reflects God and becomes conscious of man's oneness, or unity, with ever-present Spirit, Life, Truth, Love, one is equipped to prove his God-given dominion over the aggressive suggestions of warlikeness, such as fear, hatred, greed, jealousy, and rebellion. The kingdom of God within one's consciousness is a realm in which fearlessness, unselfishness, justice, integrity, progress, orderliness, are manifested—the kingdom in which boundless Love reigns. It is the kingdom in which infinite Mind's ceaseless activity is constantly unfolding joy, hope, and peace, and man's true identity as the beloved child of God is revealed.
