During childhood years it was necessary for me to seek refuge in many different homes. After I had completed the grade schools, I was directed to a home where the parents of a family of four children were students of Christian Science. I arrived on a Sunday morning and found the children prepared to attend the Christian Science Sunday School.
Because the members of this family expressed so much love and kindness to one another and to me, I asked permission to attend the Sunday School also. After the first Sunday I discarded all medicine, and now for more than forty years I have relied exclusively on Christian Science.
Within a few months, I was invited to call the parents in this home by the endearing names of aunt and uncle, and the children have continued to remain as cousins. Through this experience, these words by Mrs. Eddy hold a deep meaning for me (Science and Health, p. 254): "Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God."
