IN the Glossary of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy gives a definition of the word Mind, part of which reads (p. 591): "The only I, or Us; the only Spirit, Soul, divine Principle, substance, Life, Truth, Love; the one God; not that which is in man, but the divine Principle, or God, of whom man is the full and perfect expression."
This presentation of the divine I, or Us, as understood in Christian Science, is immeasurable in its potentiality, for it changes fundamentally the meaning of the pronoun "I" from the generally accepted basis of human person and personality to that of God, divine Principle. It identifies man with his divine origin, God, the only Life and Mind there is or can be. This oneness and allness of Mind and idea present the immortal nature of all that really is, revealing the perfection of God's creation, the nature and essence of Deity in complete expression.
Consecrated research, spiritual discernment, and prayerful receptivity are indispensable to the student of Christian Science if the intrinsic nature of the divine Ego, so clearly presented in this definition, is to be spiritually apprehended and brought into thought and action without the taint of speculative human thinking.
