When I started studying Christian Science...

From the November 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I started studying Christian Science I was buying a house and was without employment. I was without income or capital to pay mounting bills. Soon I was to learn that I had an abundance of right ideas.

I told the Christian Science practitioner to whom I went for help that I must find a position or lose my home. I was told that man cannot lose his real home, because he dwells as a spiritual idea in divine Mind and that I had an abundance of right ideas waiting to be expressed. After a short talk, I was told to go out with the knowledge that God, good, is All and that I would be led. I was told to give of the abundance of good I possessed right then.

I left the office with no thought of where to go. As I wandered up the street I found myself in front of the office of a former employer, and I went in. The appropriate man came forward and greeted me. I asked for work and was told to start in the morning. That position lasted twenty years or until my retirement. Since then I have been busier than I have ever been before; so I find that there is no retirement from God's work, for which I am indeed grateful.
