God's law of elimination

From the August 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science, the law of God, good, demonstrates the harmony of man and by doing so eliminates that which is opposed to reality. The destruction of error takes place even as darkness vanishes in the presence of light. However, errors of belief are not canceled in our lives until the light of spiritual Truth is focused on them and error thoroughly rejected as inconsistent with Truth.

Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 273): "Divine Science reverses the false testimony of the material senses, and thus tears away the foundations of error. Hence the enmity between Science and the senses, and the impossibility of attaining perfect understanding till the errors of sense are eliminated."

The only basis error has is that which is falsely given to it by the mortal senses. There would be no sickness but for the popular belief that man is material and therefore subject to mortal conditions. There would be no sin but for the pervading belief of pleasure in matter.
