"AN IMPERVIOUS ARMOR"

From the August 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

God, divine Love, alone creates and governs the universe. As Love is the sole creator, everything comprising creation must be of the nature and substance of Love—good, perfect, and complete.

Mortal sense misinterprets creation, seeing in it its own limitations—finiteness, inharmony, and evil. This misinterpretation is not a true sense of things, and it must disappear as the real nature of being becomes apparent. One who establishes within his consciousness the truth of Love's universe eliminates erroneous mortal belief from his thinking and thus eliminates from his experience the objectifications of mortal sense seen as sickness, inharmony, accident, and death.

One of the most loved and often-quoted exhortations of Mrs. Eddy appears on page 210 of her book Miscellany, where she writes, "Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them." In the same paragraph she shows the rewarding results of obedience to this instruction: "Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort." Christ Jesus gave us a similar thought in his statement, "The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me" (John 14:30).
