A Sense of frustration often accompanies a failure to understand man's identity as the image and likeness of God. Anyone who accepts a limited, material concept of man may experience frustration. But the Christ, the spiritual idea of sonship with God, comes to redeem humankind from negative thinking and consequent physical suffering.
In Christian Science, God is known as infinite Life. This Life is infinitely varied and continuously unfolding. It manifests itself in distinct ideas, the sons and daughters of God. These compound ideas express all the qualities of God, that is, every quality of Him is represented in each individual idea. This is the basis for the fulfillment of every right desire. In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy states (p. 281), "The one Ego, the one Mind or Spirit called God, is infinite individuality, which supplies all form and comeliness and which reflects reality and divinity in individual spiritual man and things." That God, infinite Life, expresses Himself in man, His image and likeness, enables each one who understands this fact to demonstrate harmony, health, completeness, fulfillment.
Prayer in Christian Science is a means of letting the divine Mind mold our thinking and action in accord with the scientific laws of Truth and Love. "Thy will be done" (Matt. 6:10) is the constant desire of the faithful student of this Science. Yielding human outlining and desires to spiritual direction makes room for divine grace, which comes from God. Frustration may sometimes be merely unfulfilled human will. Yielding human will to God's will destroys frustration.
