It is the desire of all active, good thinkers to help with the problems that confront mankind. More and more people are praying for the unerring divine guidance that will lead them and stand by them through the many far-reaching decisions that it is necessary for them to make. They recognize that it is important that they have an intelligent awareness of the times and the conditions of the times in order that the power of their individual right thinking may ultimately help to solve these problems. It is not vital that they start a physical crusade with banners flying and soapbox oratory. But it is important that they daily enlist in a spiritually directed crusade in regard to their individual thinking.
In Miscellany, Mrs. Eddy writes: "Christian Science is not a dweller apart in royal solitude; it is not a law of matter, nor a transcendentalism that heals only the sick. This Science is a law of divine Mind, a persuasive animus, an unerring impetus, an ever-present help. Its presence is felt, for it acts and acts wisely, always unfolding the highway of hope, faith, understanding" (p. 3).
A businessman who was a student of Christian Science had the following experience. Upon hearing a great clamor in the yard of the plant of which he was the manager, he arose from his desk and went to the window. There he saw a large ship at dock. It was wartime, and he knew that this ship was carrying critical material for an essential industry. The men, instead of being busy unloading the vessel, were milling about, and the machinery was idle.
