From the December 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For many years various members of my family and I have received help, comfort, and support from the study of Christian Science. As a child I had the great benefit of attending the Sunday School of a Church of Christ, Scientist, and I developed a love for the truths taught there that has never wavered. Because of this training in my early years I believe that I have had fewer physical difficulties than might otherwise have been the case. However, I did suffer from timidity, self-righteousness, and resentment, and I was able to gain my freedom from them as a result of the application of Science.

I have learned to pray more effectively and to know that spiritual existence is the most important fact to keep in thought.

A tendency to be critical of others has been entirely overcome and supplanted by a growing consciousness of the allness of God and the absolute perfection of His idea. I am learning the difference between the real man that God has created and the counterfeit concept, which aggressively would try to substitute itself for man's true individuality. In the midst of a particularly unpleasant situation the thought came to me that it was just an unreal experience of the so-called mortal mind. This became very clear to me, and although there were human prophecies of an unhappy outcome, none of these came to pass, and the experience faded away as does a dream.
