Testimonies of Healing

I should like to express my gratitude...

From the December 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I should like to express my gratitude for the teachings of Mrs. Eddy and the spiritual understanding they impart, for the revelation of the true meaning of the Holy Scriptures and for their practical availability in all difficult and discordant circumstances. Especially am I grateful for the comfort Christian Science provides in days of sorrow and for the sense of joy that is continually present., In wartime I have found peace and security, and loved ones have been kept safe while on active duty. In business I have found that divine Love can and does supply every need.

In 1914 Mrs. Eddy's teachings were first presented to me, after I had been praying to God for help. My health was not good, I was unemployed after losing my business, and I was experiencing continuous neuralgic pains and headaches. With no financial means, a young family, no signs of employment, most of our furniture gone, and the cupboard almost bare, I was told by a friend that I was thinking wrongly. I knew this remark was true; I did not know how to think or what to do.

My friend called on me later and explained something of Christian Science. I learned that God is Mind, and infinite, and that matter is therefore not actual or real. I struggled for some months to fathom these statements. I attended a Christian Science lecture and was impressed when the lecturer talked about spiritual consciousness.
