Testimonies of Healing

When I became interested in Christian Science...

From the December 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I became interested in Christian Science I was a registered nurse and had become thoroughly indoctrinated with materia medica, believing it to be the only method of healing. I was convinced that I could never accept Science as a healing agency. However, I was much in need of healing.

I was unhappy and dissatisfied with my religion. I was active in an orthodox church, but it did not satisfy my need of spiritual growth. Our children, a boy and a girl, were also unhappy and restless in the Sunday School of this church. They begged each week not to be made to go to Sunday School. One Sunday, which proved to be the most important day in my life, I allowed them to miss Sunday School on the understanding that they would go to church with me.

On our way to church I thought of a young woman who had worked in the same office with me a year or two before. I remembered that she was a Christian Scientist and that she received much good from the study of her religion. I had asked her several questions about it, and she had always lovingly answered them. So, on an impulse, I asked the children, "How would you like to go to the Christian Science church today?" They were delighted. I attended the church service and they, the Sunday School. We did not go back to our former church again.
