I wish to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science. Many experiences of healing have proved to me that Science, when correctly applied to everyday problems, does help us to solve these problems and thus experience more harmony.
My first healing took place many years ago, shortly after my mother first became interested in Christian Science. I was about eleven years of age and had been troubled since infancy with enuresis. Several doctors had expressed the opinion that there was nothing that could be done about it. Then my mother took me to visit a Christian Science practitioner. The practitioner offered a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to my mother and another to me, and then she sat in a chair and prayed silently. After a while she talked with us of God and of man's relationship to Him, and then we left. That night, for the first time in eleven years, I did not experience the discomfort of that condition. I was completely healed.
Since then I have had many healings of different forms of sickness. One evening after retiring I was awakened by a sharp pain in my side. This, together with other symptoms, brought a strong suggestion of paralysis. I called a practitioner and asked her to help me through prayer. She talked to me firmly and positively of man's relation to God. She stressed with great emphasis that God is Love and that Love is omnipotent. She talked of the power of divine Love to destroy a false sense such as disease or mental malpractice. She reminded me that man is always safe in God's care. Then she quoted the twenty-third Psalm, using the word "Love" for "the Lord," as Mrs. Eddy has used it on page 578 of the textbook. It begins, "[Divine love] is my shepherd; I shall not want."
