THE INSTANTANEITY OF TRUTH

From the February 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Are we conscious of the fact that the operation of Truth is instantaneous? Are we aware that Truth is the absence of all error? If so, then we realize that the instantaneity of Truth is the nowness of the availability of all good.

Both Old and New Testaments of the Bible contain references to the immediate action of Truth. The faithful prophet Isaiah rebuked his people for their persistent incredulity, their idolatry, and their hypocrisy. He pleaded with them to turn to God, for God had said to him (65:24), "It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." Isaiah realized the ever-presence of good and the immediate availability of Truth.

When we see mankind worshiping false gods and distrusting the power of Truth, we must follow Isaiah's example: reverse the error, replace it with the truth, and see Truth revealed as instantly present. Christian Science enables us to do this by teaching us that God, Truth, is not only omnipotent but also omnipresent and that man is the perfect reflection of God.
