LET US PRACTICE WHAT WE UNDERSTAND

From the February 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The way to progress in Christian Science is to practice what we understand. From the moment we catch a glimpse of the value, even in the slightest degree, of the spiritual message of Christian Science, we see a method whereby we can heal the sick and enrich our own lives and extend this blessing to others. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 174): "Truth is revealed. It needs only to be practised."

Even a small understanding of Truth awakens human thought to the availability of ever-present, divine good. The good which is of God is a spiritual fact, and each one who accepts God's all-power places himself under His law of harmony. When one accepts the opposite belief of evil, he is accepting a mistake, or a mistaken sense of existence. God, the source of all good, has no knowledge of evil; therefore whatever is contrary to good has no law to support it and no origin and is but a false notion or an illusion. In Genesis we read (1:31): "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."

It does not make any difference whether the difficulties that confront one appear to be large or small, they are still untrue. It is by practicing what we know of Truth that we destroy error. Confidence in Love's all-presence overcomes fear. As we reflect Spirit in spiritual qualities, we see and prove that material evidence is false.
