THE POWER OF PRAYER

From the February 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In this modern age, we hear much of nuclear energy, jet-propelled planes, missiles, and the exploring of outer space, some aspects of which offer severe challenges. Scientific research along many lines has made great strides in all fields of material endeavor. As we think on these things, is it not well to consider whether we have made sufficient progress in the understanding of Christian Science so that we may be able to meet and master the challenges of this age?

In many lines of progress there are charts, graphs, patterns, that must be followed in order to attain the successful fulfillment of a project. Shall we ask, What is our chart of life?

As we ponder, we shall perhaps remember that our scientific and accurate chart is the inspired Word of the Holy Bible. Whatever the circumstance or occasion, be it severe or complicated, the Word of God will tell us what to do. Through any trial that may confront us, it instructs, leads, and guides us to safety and security. It shows us that God never forsakes those who, through absolute reliance upon Him, turn to Him in prayer for help and maintenance.
