One need consider only the stars in their courses, the radiant loveliness of a sunset, the perfect pattern of a single snow-flake, or listen to the song of a bird to feel in his heart that these beauties hint at a divine law governing the universe in harmony. This law is explained in Christian Science as the action of divine Principle, God, who unfolds His absolute perfection in every aspect of spiritual creation, including man.
According to the Scriptures, man is created in the image and likeness of God. He does not exist outside the jurisdiction of divine Principle, subject to so-called laws of matter, disease, or death. God's law, when spiritually understood in Science, proves these supposititious laws to be causeless and powerless. It annihilates their vicious claims to power, which would fetter one's natural expression of well-being, make him sick, or destroy his life. It brings to light the great fact that there is no afflictive law in the whole universe of God's creating.
In the Bible we read (Isa. 65:25), "They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord." And in Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 381), "Let us banish sickness as an outlaw, and abide by the rule of perpetual harmony,— God's law." No material theories or medical laws can defy the operation of this omnipotent law. They have no more power to invade the harmony of man than to invade the harmony of the spiritual universe.
