One is wise indeed who evaluates everything from its true spiritual status. Yet humanity too frequently is prone to ignore the spiritual value of things or having properly evaluated them neglects to be governed by them. It is inclined to view everything from what the so-called five physical senses present as actual. This tendency may have caused Christ Jesus to admonish his listeners thus (John 7:24): "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
The Master always demonstrated spiritual truths. He always acted according to spiritual law, never against it. He understood that health, happiness, and harmony are divinely natural to man in God's likeness; whereas discords of physique, economics, and relationships are the false evidence of material sense. This understanding enabled him to restore sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, life to the dead, wholeness to the lame, well-being to the ailing.
In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy says (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick." Whenever the "correct view of man" is achieved, regardless of the time, circumstance, or situation, it heals the sick, restores harmony, opens blind mentalities. Christ is the true idea of God, hence the power of God revealed. When the Christ-power is applied to human problems, it solves them. And in solving human problems, it heals the physically ill, reforms the sinning, and shows the fearful how perfect love for God and man banishes all fear.
