As a child I suffered under the inharmonious conditions in my parents' home. So I sought comfort in orthodox theology, but did not find it. I knew God only as a God of retribution and punishment, and I was seeking a compassionate and loving Father. I did not find Him until I found the teachings of Christian Science. I am infinitely grateful for Mary Baker Eddy and her life of consecration to God, which enabled her to discover this Science, which Christ Jesus taught and which blesses all mankind.
One day my eyes fell on a poster announcing a Christian Science lecture. This lecture was to determine my future life. I asked my husband to accompany me to the lecture. As we entered the hall I was made happy by the words, "God is Love," which shone from a transparency on the wall.
Even while the lecture was being given, I knew I had found that for which I had thirsted as a child. I was so filled with what I had heard that a few days later, despite our critical financial condition, I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
