"THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH"

From the November 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

True joy is spiritual. It is the expression of God, life-giving Truth, majestic Soul, the only creator, forever holding man in the realm of imperishable Life. Man, the reflection of God, forever expresses the joy of divine Principle. He walks in the strength of Soul.

The Bible urges us to maintain "the joy of the Lord" if we would find strength, vigor, and energy. In Nehemiah (8:10) we read, "This day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength." Glorifying God with joy and gratitude develops harmonious right action.

Spiritual joy and ceaseless gratitude for God's blessings enable us to walk with undiminished health. Isaiah declared (12: 2, 3): "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation."
