"WHERE ARE THE NINE?"

From the November 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When Christ Jesus healed the ten lepers, as recounted in the seventeenth chapter of Luke's Gospel, "one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God." Then Jesus said: "Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger."

The Master regarded the expressing of gratitude as of great importance in performing his mighty works. Lifting thought to God is a necessary preparation for the demonstration of the presence of the divine all-power, which alone heals.

In Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world a part of the Wednesday testimony meeting is set aside for the giving of testimonies of healing and for expressions of gratitude for Christian Science by members of the congregation. In Article VIII, Section 24, of the Manual of The Mother Church, Mrs. Eddy says: "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)."
