HEALTH AND HOLINESS ARE INSEPARABLE

From the February 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

TRUE health is inseparable from holiness. It is the perfection of being, in which perfect God holds perfect man. Thus true health is invariable—forever the same, forever perfect. Mrs. Eddy points out the spiritual status of health and its relation to the divine when she writes in Science and Health (p. 120), "Health is not a condition of matter, but of Mind." Here she capitalizes the M in the word Mind, thus referring to God, Spirit.

Christian Science not only reveals the spiritually mental nature of health but exposes the materially mental nature of disease. As health is a condition of the divine Mind, not of matter, so sickness, the so-called opposite of health, is a condition of the mortal or carnal mind, not of matter. Our Leader writes (ibid., p. 493), "Disease is an experience of so-called mortal mind." This takes disease and its so-called cause out of matter and puts it into false mentality.

Good health naturally follows the acceptance of God as the only Mind and the living of God's law, the spiritual acknowledgment of God and man as perfect and eternal. The more Godlike and the holier one's thoughts, the better the expression of health.
