IN a sermon to his disciples, Christ Jesus stressed the importance of spiritual readiness when he said (Luke 12:35), "Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning." Let us ask ourselves: Are we spiritually prepared at all times to behold ourselves as in reality the man of God's creating? Are we alert in realizing our immunity from the so-called laws of heredity, age, contagion? Are we instantly ready to see that envy, impatience, and self-righteousness are unreal and to replace them with love, patience, and humility?
If our answers to these questions are in the negative, then we need to establish firmly in consciousness the truth of the perfection of God and of man, as perfect Principle and perfect idea, perfect cause and perfect effect. As we assimilate this fundamental truth, we become more alert in detecting evil's aggressive suggestions and in nullifying them with the facts of Christian Science.
Just as the violinist tunes his instrument by adjusting each string to A, so the Scientist attunes his thought to the one Mind by supplanting each misconception of God and man with the perfect concept as elucidated in the Bible and in the writings of Mrs. Eddy.
