As a youngster I enjoyed attending a Christian Science Sunday School. My dear grandmother was responsible for my introduction to Science at an early age, and I shall always love and admire her for standing alone for what she believed was right, sometimes in the midst of great opposition. Although she has been gone many years, the loving memory of her still lives in our hearts and is a beacon to all of us who knew her.
I was able to grasp the spiritual import of Science in a measure, but it was not until almost twenty years later that the real awakening came to me. It was exactly as our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us in Science and Health (p. 230:) "This awakening is the forever coming of Christ, the advanced appearing of Truth, which casts out error and heals the sick. This is the salvation which comes through God, the divine Principle, Love, as demonstrated by Jesus." This is the rebirth, the real baptism.
Since I have made Christian Science my way of life, many healings as well as unusual events have occurred. I should like to tell about one experience in particular, because it was quite different from any others that I have ever had; it is one that I shall never forget, and it will always be a definite proof to me of God's tender care for all His children. It involved the capture of five escaped inmates from a prison located about ten miles from our home. We live in a densely wooded area where these men sought refuge.
