Since my first testimony, which appeared in the Sentinel over ten years ago and in which I expressed humble gratitude for God's protection and His divine guidance, we have had many proofs of His love in our family.
During an extremity, when unemployment and lack were manifesting themselves in our home, I awakened to the fact that this was God's opportunity to fulfill for us Jesus' promise (Matt. 6:33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Prior to this time I had allowed myself to become lax in my church attendance and study of the Lesson-Sermon, given in the Quarterly, even though I had been reared by Christian Science parents and had been taught the importance of always putting first things first. Pondering Jesus' statement quoted above, I realized that my first need was to serve God more consecratedly than I had been doing. I began attending church regularly, serving when needed, and with sincere desire and effort on my part there was time each morning to study the lesson first thing.
