My family and I have had many wonderful healings in Christian Science, but there are two which have given the greatest impetus to my growth in understanding God and man's relationship to Him.
In the textbook Mrs. Eddy states (p. 208): "Mind, not matter, is causation. A material body only expresses a material and mortal mind." Two summers ago I had the opportunity to prove conclusively the truth expressed in the above statement.
I had promised one of my four sons that I would take him and a couple of his friends to a Little League baseball game. As we were preparing to get into the car to leave, a very large German shepherd dog, belonging to a neighbor, came up to me and started to put his paws on my shoulders in a friendly way, and in the process he scratched my right eyeball with one of his nails. I pushed him away, covered the eye with a tissue, and immediately declared the truth as I had been taught in Christian Science. I knew that there can be no accidents in divine Mind and that since man is spiritual, the image and likeness of God, divine Spirit, he cannot be injured because of any mortal belief of accident, which is a lying belief.
