BASING OUR LIVES ON PRAYER

From the January 1966 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Prayer for self, prayer for church, and prayer for mankind constitute the triad which characterizes the true Christian Scientist.

Prayer for oneself, one's family, one's business, is one's private practice of Christian Science. Prayer for one's church shows one's gratitude to God for His manifold blessings. Prayer for mankind opens one's thought to the public practice of Christian Science. This triad is vital to the advancing spiritual course of every Christian Scientist.

We can pray with expectancy of healing. We can witness God's healing presence and realize its mandate for everyone everywhere. Such universal prayer will give us opportunities for introducing Christian Science to others. With such prayer we can step forward to the public practice of healing. Prayer for our church will bless our practice and will unfold for us further steps of spiritual growth and activity. Prayer for ourselves will bless our prayer for church and mankind.
