THE HEALING MINISTRY IS SACRED

From the January 1966 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The healing ministry of Christian Science is sacred. To heal through this Science, one must be dedicated to the high moral and spiritual standard of thought and deed essential to the office of Christian healing. Goodness, fidelity, honesty, love, spiritual preparation, are indispensable if one would heal through prayer.

Doing right, abiding in divine Principle as it relates not only to whatever may be the case in hand but to all of one's human living, is the very first and the fundamental rule of Christian Science. If we would heal through prayer, we must live the truth of our prayers. Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 454), "Love for God and man is the true incentive in both healing and teaching."

The Science of spiritual healing cannot be taught, learned, or practiced through mere human intellectualism. A Christian Science treatment is not applied human psychology. It is not thought manipulation. It is not mental suggestion, mesmerism, or psychiatry. It is the tender, healing, and saving power of divine Love poured into human consciousness.
