A commonly accepted human belief is that sight is essentially structural and organic, that it may ultimately deteriorate with age or disease, or that it can be lost completely. In other words, that it is not spiritual, perfect, and immortal.
What a great blessing and comfort it is to mankind that Christian Science brings to light the truth of spiritual vision and thus restores the mechanism of human sight to normal action. And Science does this as naturally in the healing of sight as it does in the healing of any other physical condition. The way that Christian Science heals or corrects faulty sight is the same way that it heals all manner of disease. It is the way of Christ-healing, the way by which spiritual truth corrects mistaken human beliefs.
In the healing of sight, the Christ, Truth, rends the veil of material beliefs that seem to obscure pure spiritual vision. The influence of the Christ on human thought destroys the covering that veils, or hides, the spiritual facts of being. In Isaiah it is written of this holy mission of God and His Christ (25:7), "He will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations."
