I discovered that God does answer prayer, for Christian Science came into my experience as a result of prayer. Just a few months after learning of this new way of life, I had an instantaneous healing of grief at the time of my mother's passing and was sustained and given courage.
In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 2), "Yes, the desire which goes forth hungering after righteousness is blessed of our Father, and it does not return unto us void."
I attended a Protestant church with my family until I was grown, and I had read and studied the Bible since I was a child; but I never felt satisfied that I understood God. The reading of the textbook, Science and Health, opened my thought, and many questions regarding God were answered. Through this study, life began to take on a new meaning. I attended a Church of Christ, Scientist, and in a short time joined a branch church and The Mother Church.
