A healing that stands out to me was that...

From the December 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A healing that stands out to me was that of a chest condition which was never diagnosed. I had help from a Christian Science practitioner and received periodic relief, but the condition kept recurring. During many sleepless hours at night I held to this passage from the Bible (Isa. 41:10): "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Although fear and pain tried to overwhelm me, this verse made me conscious of the very presence and power of God, good, and of His loving care and protection. Thus, I could avoid disturbing the practitioner in the middle of the night; although on the occasions that I felt it needful to call, she willingly and immediately gave me help.

After some time I dismissed the practitioner and continued to work for myself as we are taught to do in Christian Science. I made some progress but felt led to call on another practitioner. She began prayerful work, and I began to improve. Soon the condition faded from my consciousness, and I was healed. It has never returned in the eleven years since.

For about two years I worked as a salesperson in a very busy department store. During the whole of this time I arose early and studied the Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, before going to work each day. I studied all Mrs. Eddy's writings and read the periodicals. On the drive each morning I diligently used the time to pray scientifically, to prepare for the day ahead. This study and preparation enabled me to solve problems easily, such as those of human relationships, sales quotas, and others usually associated with this kind of work.
