I'll always be so thankful that I was led to enroll our son and daughter in the Christian Science Sunday School at a very early age and that I attended church regularly, studying along with them so that we could understand and demonstrate together God's divine purpose. For many years I struggled with the false appetite for tobacco. Finally I caught a glimpse of the allness of divine Principle and the nothingness of false belief, and this little glimpse enabled me to overcome the desire for anything that did not contribute to a complete understanding of the allness of God.
It was a joyous privilege to apply for membership in The Mother Church, and great progress and happiness have since come into my experience. Our teen-age daughter is a member of The Mother Church, and my husband is also sincerely studying and applying the spiritual truths that set us free from the lie that there are two powers, good and evil, when the reality is that there is only one God, good.
Years ago, before I was a member of a Church of Christ, Scientist, I experienced much suffering from hay fever and finally went to a medical specialist. He said that the tests he gave me showed I was allergic to many, many things and that I would have to take shots for a while. I decided to rely wholly on Christian Science, and the ill effects disappeared and have never returned. One of the helpful quotations I studied is this one from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 175): "What an abuse of natural beauty to say that a rose, the smile of God, can produce suffering! The joy of its presence, its beauty and fragrance, should uplift the thought, and dissuade any sense of fear or fever."
