One of the most immediate needs of our time is for the light of intelligence to show us the way out of the many dark and perplexing problems that face both individuals and nations. We can be confident that there is a way and that through prayer this way can become apparent. The Christmas season is a continual reminder of the fact that divine Love is ever present and ever available to meet human needs.
The light of Truth uncovers the unreality of evil and shows the way to freedom from limitation, suffering, and mortality. It is significant that Jesus' birth was marked by a star and the occasion accompanied by light. He represented the coming of the light known as the Christ, the manifestation of Truth and Love. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "The incarnation of Truth, that amplification of wonder and glory which angels could only whisper and which God illustrated by light and harmony, is consonant with ever-present Love." Science and Health, p. 501;
In all ages it is Christ, Truth, piercing the darkness of false belief that brings release and freedom. Christian Science reveals that one does not have to change reality; but one does have to perceive it and understand it. God, the only creator, being absolutely good in nature and almighty in power, has created the universe subject to laws of harmonious government. This spiritual universe and man are the reality of being, which can be understood and demonstrated. What is needed in our human experience is the light of intelligence that will enable us to realize and manifest the divine nature and presence here and now.
