Testimonies of Healing

There is so much for which I have to be...

From the March 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There is so much for which I have to be grateful, and it is all due to Christian Science. My brothers and I were reared in a home where there was complete reliance on this religion, and we experienced many instantaneous healings. We had the privilege of attending a Christian Science Sunday School, and I am very grateful for the teachers and all the workers in the branch church.

When I married and had a family, my husband, who was not a student of Christian Science but was in accord with my studying it, agreed that we should rely on it for the children and that they should attend Sunday School. I'd like to tell of some of the healings that took place in our home.

When the children were quite young, a large, ugly growth suddenly appeared on the knee of the younger girl. One evening her father looked at the knee and then told her he was taking her to a doctor next day to have the growth removed. She was quite upset, and when I tucked her in bed, she said, "Mother, I've been working with the truth, 'A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive.'" The quotation is from page 463 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Then she decided to know that man is a spiritual idea and that this truth of her selfhood would remove properly whatever discord claimed to be a part of her. The next morning she could hardly wait to show her father and me that her knee was only slightly discolored and that the growth was gone.
