Shortly before graduating from high...

From the April 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Shortly before graduating from high school, I was introduced to Christian Science by two friends. One asked me to accompany her to Sunday School. Even though my parents were antagonistic to what they thought Christian Science to be, they permitted me to attend Sunday School if I so desired. I shall always be grateful that these two friends let their light shine and that I was led to the active study of their religion.

When I was three months pregnant with our second child, I started to hemorrhage one evening. My husband was away at the time, and I became very much frightened. Immediately called a practitioner, who said she would help me through prayer. After my husband came home, we both clung to the truth throughout the night. We held to the spiritual sense of the birth of a child as the unfolding of a right idea. Soon I could feel the condition lessening as fear gave way to degrees of understanding.

In the morning my husband again called the practitioner, who asked us to read the chapter in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy entitled "Genesis." By this time I was able to sit up. We spent about two hours reading the chapter. The thought that impressed me was that God created all and that it was very good. This assurance was what I needed most, and soon I knew I was healed of the physical problem. The inharmonious action ceased completely.
