Mrs. Eddy tells us in the textbook, Science and Health (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."
When I was twelve, my body became completely paralyzed. My mother quickly asked for the help of a Christian Science practitioner. My thought was confused and disturbed for a period, but through the help of the practitioner and the unyielding conviction of my family the healing was complete in three weeks, and there were no aftereffects. As a result of this healing and of others I had witnessed in our home, I had a great desire to learn more of the teaching of Christian Science. When I was sixteen, I availed myself of the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and a local branch church.
One of my greatest blessings came later when I married another devoted student of Christian Science. Together we have found that there is no problem that cannot be solved through radical reliance on Truth. A great joy and sense of security has come to us through the study and application of Christian Science. The manifestation of this joy and peace has shown itself in greater business opportunities, a more comfortable home, and the solving of many problems concerning the rearing of a family.
