This testimony is given as an expression of deep gratitude for Mrs. Eddy for her wonderful foresight of humanity's needs in establishing both the Christian Science Sunday School and the Christian Science Reading Room as an integral part of The Church of Christ, Scientist.
At the time of reaching the age limit as a Sunday School pupil, I suddenly found myself standing entirely alone without the support of parents, without a permanent home, and without employment or adequate funds. This was at the time of the depression, when many others more qualified than I were jobless. Having the foundational truth of man's relationship to God, which I learned early in my Sunday School experience, I prayerfully sought for a way out of my dilemma. I spent part of each day in the Reading Room and the remainder in following job leads.
After I had spent several weeks in this way, a worthwhile job opportunity opened for me. It was a position of clerk-secretary to the manager of a suboffice of a worldwide machinery manufacturing concern.
