Christian Science found me at a time of...

From the March 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science found me at a time of extreme need. We had transferred from our city dwelling to a small Kansas farm town. About three months after the transfer, our daughter was born. We had been having the help of a Christian Science practitioner for a number of discordant family problems. The practitioner continued to help me through the event of the child's birth, which was most harmonious.

However, when this child was about six months of age, I began experiencing severe pain. Eating and sleeping became nearly impossible. When the illness seemed to reach a climax, my mother and sister came from my former home city to help with our children and the housework. They arrived when things were at the darkest. Finally my husband told the practitioner that he was going to take me to the hospital.

But this did not occur. The very next day I was able to walk to the telephone and talk with the practitioner. I could also eat and retain a little food. In a few days I was caring for myself, my younger child, and my four-year-old son. Household help was then engaged on a weekly basis, and my mother and sister went home.
