For some time I have felt I must express the deep sense of gratitude I have for the great change which has taken place in my whole existence since I learned of Christian Science.
As a small child I was highly strung and felt joys and sorrows intensely. When I was about thirteen, I began to be bothered by stomach trouble, and later was told by our doctor that I had a duodenal ulcer, something unheard of in one so young. It was suggested that certain foods were not good for me and that acid fruits and so on must be avoided. Although the doctor's advice was followed and his medicine taken, the attacks grew worse and more frequent. I suffered in this way for several years and had little relief.
Then I left home to continue my training as a singer. On the day of my arrival in London I was told about Christian Science. It was a door opening into a new world. Much improvement in my experience took place, although it was some years before I began to realize that I had to control my mental state and that the suffering had no physical cause.
