My father became a Christian Scientist in my early childhood, but Science was not accepted for the children of the family. He was completely transformed and given a new start in life through Christian Science. This made a great impression on me.
Just before the birth of my older son I experienced great fear and nervousness. I shall never forget the wonderful change that took place when my father came to see me that evening. I was immediately free of fear. It was as though a weight had been lifted from me, and in a short while I experienced childbirth completely free of pain. As a result I started to ask many questions about Christian Science. My father gave me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
Through reading Science and Health I was healed of extreme nervousness after the birth of my son. However, my copy of Science and Health was put away and not used for many years after I moved away from my hometown and my father's influence. Then came the time when I was willing to accept its explanation of God. It is now over sixteen years since I became a student of Christian Science, and words cannot express my gratitude for the privilege of rearing my children in this religion and having them attend the Christian Science Sunday School.
