Thanksgiving Day—a Happy Reminder

Thanksgiving Day is a reminder of the happiness, health, and abundance that can be ours when we make gratitude a way of life. Put in another way, what downright joy and satisfaction result from making every day a Thanksgiving Day!

Gratitude is much more than a polite "thank you," important as that is. It's a deep feeling. It's that wonderful sense of warm, humble thankfulness welling up in thought when we really acknowledge the blessings that divine Love is showering upon us every moment.

An important step in our growth Spirit-ward is thankfulness for the simple fact that God is the perfect Principle of our being, the All-in-all who holds us forever safe and sound within Himself. Lifting thought in praise and thanksgiving to God makes us increasingly aware of His presence and power. It helps to lift us through the mist of materiality into a more substantive sense of our unity, or oneness, with the divine Mind. Perhaps this is what one of the writers in the book of Psalms recognized when he said: "Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. . . . Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise." Ps. 100:2, 4;
