Suppose a conductor has selected a new work for his orchestra to perform. He will have in mind his ideal for the performance of it, but if we were to listen in on rehearsals, we would not immediately hear that ideal come to life.
Throughout rehearsals the conductor would be instructing his players as to the musical shadings, contrasts, rhythms, and fine effects that should result in a commendable, and, hopefully, a thrilling performance. The promptness of the musicians in arriving at the conductor's ideal in musical production would depend upon how clear the ideal was to them and with what enthusiasm they applied it.
Christian Science holds before us the divine ideal of manhood taught by Christ Jesus. The Saviour laid out the Christ ideal for all to pattern after, so that each one may prove his individual, Christly nature as a child of God. He said, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."Matt. 5:48;
