Male and Female

From the March 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A friend of mine was burdened and discouraged. He complained: "As the male member of our partnership, I have to be the breadwinner, and I'm greatly concerned. I should be providing more adequate supply and a greater sense of security for my family." He was bowed down with the responsibility that obtains with individuals who entertain the world's wrong sense of real manhood.

A girl I know lives alone in a big city. She has little social life, is short on companionship, and feels insecure in her position. Her loneliness, fear, and sense of incompleteness stem from having accepted the wrong belief that she is a material female separated from God.

In these instances and the legions like them, it is possible to break the mental fetters that would prevent our measuring up to our true manhood and womanhood. For happily we learn in Christian Science that man is both male and female.
