Approximately twenty-six years ago I was introduced to Christian Science. For many months I had been suffering with sinus trouble. I had been having medical help from specialists for this problem, but finally I was told that there was no cure for me. Drugs were prescribed to relieve the pain, but I was left without hope of a permanent cure. This verdict of medical science left me in a very depressed state of mind, for it seemed hopeless to expect any freedom, and the future seemed bleak.
At that time during World War II, I was working as a toolmaker, and we were asked to work ten hours a day, six days a week, and occasionally even on Sunday. This work load seemed almost unbearable from a physical standpoint.
It has been said that man's extremity is God's opportunity, and it was so with me, for divine Love met my need through a friend with whom I worked. He was a student of Christian Science, and recognizing my need, he offered me the help that I was desperately searching for. He assured me that if I would acquire a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and would read it all the way through with a receptive thought, I would be healed.
