The world's need and The Mother Church's response

[Members of The Mother Church and its branches must learn more effectively the art of communicating their religion to others. The false sense that suggests difficulty is a lie, and this is seen when it is understood that "divine Science is the rock underlying our relationship with our audience, whether it is one neighbor or a thousand strong."]

Improving Our Lines of Communication

From the May 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Church of Christ, Scientist, comprising The Mother Church and all its branches, is girding itself both spiritually and organizationally to carry out more effectively than ever before the task Mrs. Eddy entrusted to it.

What will enable this task to be accomplished is not primarily the buildings or the printed page but the inspiration Christian Scientists and others gain when they listen and respond to the ever-available abundant outpouring of God's thoughts. This spiritual inspiration gained by every one of its members provides the impetus of our worldwide church. It flows out to humanity and takes form and direction through the Lesson-Sermons, the periodicals, the lectures, and the other avenues through which we seek to bless humanity. That those who speed this process may have the most helpful human aids to their work is the purpose behind the building of our new Christian Science Center.

If those within our movement should mainly inspire themselves, having but little contact with others in need of inspiration, little would be accomplished despite a very great deal of effort.
