It is highly important for parents to teach their children early that they have spiritual identity and that God is their true Father-Mother. To teach them this is to wing them for soaring above mortal limitations. This teaching does not release parents and children from any real responsibilities, but it does remove fear and limitations and brings them nearer one another in a joyously more spiritual family relationship.
Christian Science embraces the Bible statement, "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him." Gen. 1:27; Adherents of Science think of themselves and their children as spiritual ideas at one with the one perfect creator, divine Mind. As each one, even while seeming to have a mortal body, conceives of himself and his children as the offspring of Spirit, his family's experience takes on an increasingly harmonious aspect.
When parents are confronted by an enigmatic problem such as unruliness, retardation, or deformation, and cannot seem to break the spell, what should they do? They might do well to handle the general and specific beliefs of occultism, or secret evil.
