Cobwebs?

From the May 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Houses in warm, damp climates accumulate cobwebs quickly. A tiny spider will spin his thread across a lampshade, around a ceiling light, in remote corners, unnoticed until a light is turned on. A flick of the switch reveals the little fellow's work and you see what happened while darkness prevailed. With light you can destroy the evidence of his invasion. Meticulous vigilance will keep the cobwebs away and prevent the spider from weaving a tenacious web.

At times we all experience the fabrications of the carnal mind, its illusions of lack, fear, disease, or inharmony. But these errors will not accumulate if we turn on the light of Christian Science and get vigorously to work. Acknowledging our Father-Mother God, the one Mind, as our true source of being, and insisting that we reflect His power and intelligence, we can overcome false beliefs, no matter how subtle they may be.

We do not have to slip into the belief that if we just wait long enough, a problem will be overcome. There is no need to give a problem a medical label, be tempted to try a material method for healing, yield to discouragement because we see no change in a physical condition, believe that because of our age there is no hope. We can wake up to the general belief of the world today that Christian Science does not heal. We can recognize whatever would tend to resist healing and annul it. Let us handle these false beliefs, here, specifically.
