Testimonies of Healing

I have had the wonderful privilege of...

From the May 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have had the wonderful privilege of studying Christian Science since childhood. My mother came into Science after witnessing the healing of her sister. Although the medical verdict was given that she must have immediate surgery for acute appendicitis, my aunt's complete healing took place instantaneously under Christian Science treatment. My mother took up the study of Christian Science and later married a Christian Scientist. She was healed of bursitis and of an unsightly skin condition covering her hands.

My sister and I had the helpful experience of attending a Christian Science Sunday School from the age of two until we were twenty. I love Christian Science because it has meant much to me and my family in the way of spiritual growth, continued good health, supply, guidance in education, and the choice of a career. As a child and throughout my school days I enjoyed wonderfully good health and protection, rarely missing a day of school. Recently with the help of a Christian Science practitioner I experienced very quick healings of food poisoning and flu.

Another recent outstanding healing was that of a severe organic malfunction. For some time I had prayed about this problem as we are taught in Christian Science, but it had not yielded. Then I consulted a practitioner and had a helpful discussion at his office. Since I had not read through the textbook for some time, he asked me to begin reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from beginning to end, studying it anew as though I had never read it before. I was encouraged to look primarily for a better understanding of God and to be alert to recognize and use the many statements in our textbook that are either rules or definitions. He asked me also to look especially for what Mrs. Eddy teaches about the perfect man of God's creating, who is not subject to limitation or disorder. He asked that I endeavor to learn how to identify myself as this complete and harmonious spiritual idea, man, and to gain a better understanding of man's relationship to God.
