The ninth Biennial College Organization Meeting will be held in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 26, 27, and 28, 1971. The purpose of this three-day meeting is to consider and strengthen the work of college organizations throughout the world in accordance with Article XXIII, Section 8, of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy.
The theme of the 1971 Biennial is "But what of ourselves, . . . our times and obligations?" (Miscellaneous Writings by Mrs. Eddy, p. 176.) The meeting will consider ways in which college students who are Christian Scientists can, both individually and collectively, help to heal the ills of mankind. Specific attention will be given to the purpose of Christian Science college organizations to contribute spiritually to the academic community. Thoughts will be shared regarding many basic subjects, including spiritual identity, home, marriage, morality, mental and physical environment, drug culture, ecology, the occult, and aspects of college life. The meeting will also consider the obligations of Christian Scientists with reference to Church and to Mrs. Eddy's place as Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
Students who are members of The Mother Church and who are enrolled in a college or university working toward a degree during the academic year 1970-71, or who will be enrolled and working toward a degree during the academic year 1971-72, are eligible to attend. Also, members of The Mother Church who have faculty or instructor status during either of the previously mentioned academic years are eligible to attend. Organization advisors and Campus Counselors who are members of The Mother Church are welcome to attend as observers.
